Allergies are an individual body's unique reaction to environmental triggers. As such, they may be tough to predict at times. People respond differently to medications, but Allegra has brought many people fast, effective and lasting relief from their allergy symptoms.
Who Should Take Allegra?
- Adults who have allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and/or itchy, watery eyes
- Children, age 6 and older, who have allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and/or itchy, watery eyes
- Adults or children, age 6 and older, who have chronic idiopathic urticaria (CIU), a skin allergy with itchy hives that lasts 6 weeks or longer
Who Should Not Take Allegra?
Women who are breastfeeding, pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant should talk to a doctor before starting to take Allegra. The safety of Allegra in pregnant women has not been fully tested.
The safety of Allegra in children younger than 6 years of age has not been studied, so children younger than 6 should not use this product.
People who are allergic to any of the ingredients found in Allegra or Allegra-D should talk with a doctor before taking this medication. People who have a history of kidney disease may need to take a smaller dose of Allegra.
If taking Allegra-D, which also contains a decongestant, or if experiencing any of the following conditions, consult with a doctor before starting Allegra:
- urinary retention
- narrow angle glaucoma
- high blood pressure
- diabetes
- heart disease
- thyroid disease
- enlarged prostate
